“But when you are praying,

first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against,

so that your Father in heaven

will forgive your sins,

too.”

…everyone will be tested with fire.

Salt is good for seasoning.

But if it loses its flavor,

how do you make it salty again?

You must have the qualities of salt among yourselves

and live in peace with each other.

…There is one God and one Mediator

who can reconcile God and humanity—

the man Christ Jesus.

He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.

…pray for all people.

Ask God to help them;

intercede on their behalf,

and give thanks for them.

Pray this way for kings

and all who are in authority

so we can live peaceful and quiet lives

marked by godliness and dignity.

This is good and pleases God our Savior,

who wants everyone to be saved

and to understand the truth.

for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time

Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again,

and his eyes were opened.

His sight was completely restored,

and he could see everything clearly.

…About three o’clock in the morning

Jesus came toward them,

walking on the water…

They were all terrified when they saw him…

“Don’t be afraid,”

he said,

“Take courage!

I am here!”

…They were totally amazed,

for they still didn’t understand the significance

of the miracle of the loaves.
