The LORD said to my Lord,
“Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.”
The LORD said to my Lord,
“Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
until I humble your enemies,
making them a footstool under your feet.”
“LORD, help!“
they cried in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
He calmed the storm to a whisper
and stilled the waves.
What a blessing was that stillness
as he brought them safely into harbor!

Give thanks to the LORD,
for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Has the LORD redeemed you?
Then speak out!
You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the LORD always,
for the LORD God is the
eternal Rock.
Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness.
Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing to him;
yes,
sing his praises.
Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Exult in his holy name;
rejoice,
you who worship the LORD.

Shout to the LORD,
all the earth;
break out in praise and sing for joy!
Sing your praise to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song,
with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.
Make a joyful symphony before the LORD,
the King!
“LORD,
remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is.
You have made my life no longer
than the width of my hand.
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best,
each of us is but a breath.”
And so,
Lord,
where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.
…For I am your guest—
a traveler passing through,
as my ancestors were before me.

“See,
I am sending an angel before you
to protect you on your journey
and lead you safely to the place
I have prepared for you.”
“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,”
the LORD told him.
And as Elijah stood there,
the LORD passed by,
and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain…
…but the LORD was not in the wind…
…the LORD was not in the earthquake…
…the LORD was not in the fire…
…after the fire
there was the sound of a gentle whisper
…Elijah heard it…
Then Moses climbed the mountain
to appear before God.
The LORD called to him…
‘You have seen what I did…
You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings
and brought you to myself.
…if you will obey me and keep my covenant,
you will be my own special treasure
from all the peoples on earth;
for all the earth belongs to me.’
