Lord God,

maker of heaven and earth,

please help my words to be few

and my prayers to be many.

Amen.

 

Abba Father,

never fully understanding the alchemy of prayer,

but never doubting your power;

I ask your complete blessings

on the Comey, Obama, Clinton, and Trump families.

In Jesus name, amen.

Lord,

I pray that you bless

the Obama, Trump, and Clinton families

with the wisdom that is possible

only from truly knowing you.

Help me Lord–

there is one person

over whose moral and religious choices I have control:

and it is I.

Father God,

I pray that you bless

the Clinton, Trump, and Obama families this election night.

Please meet their needs with your amazing grace.

Amen.

Lord, thank you for the grace and humility

we have heard in the very recent words spoken by

President-elect Trump, Secretary Clinton, and President Obama.

Thank you, Father, for answering our prayers.

What a good day to pray for our country…

and those who want to be our leaders…

what a good day to ask for God’s wise leadership…

and what an amazingly good day

to ask for God’s mercy instead of justice…

 

Lord Jesus, please keep me focused on what’s truly important in this dash of time we call life. Please remind me daily of this undeniable truth: one nanosecond after I leave this life, it won’t matter a hill of beans to me who was elected president of the United States in November 2016. Thank you, my Abba Father.

 

 

 

For our present troubles are small

 

and won’t last very long.

 

Yet they produce for us a glory

 

that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!

 

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now;

 

rather, we fix our gaze on things

 

that cannot be seen.

 

For the things we see now will soon be gone,

 

but the things we cannot see will last forever.

Father God,

we don’t deserve any of your blessings

because we’re all sinners in need of your grace.

In full acknowledgment of that truth,

but because you say in your word

that your mercies are fresh every day,

I ask your blessings on our country

and those who lead

and will lead our nation…

the Obama, Clinton and Trump families.

Father, please keep my focus on the important things–the ones for whom I pray–keep them safe, by night and day. Give each of us an intense hunger and insatiable thirst for you. And, Lord, thank you for your reminders; and please use my moment well.

 

We are here for only a moment,

visitors and strangers in the land

as our ancestors were before us.

Our days on earth are like a passing shadow,

gone so soon without a trace.
