You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing.
You have taken away my clothes of mourning
and clothed me with joy,
that I might sing praises to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God,
I will give you thanks forever!

But Moses pleaded with the LORD,
“O Lord,
I’m not very good with words.
I never have been,
and I’m not now,
even though you have spoken to me.
I get tongue-tied,
and my words get tangled.”
Then the LORD asked Moses,
“Who makes a person’s mouth?
Who decides whether people speak or do not speak,
hear or do not hear,
see or do not see?
Is it not I,
the LORD?
Now go!
I will be with you as you speak,
and I will instruct you in what to say.”

Once you were dead
because of your disobedience and your many sins.
You used to live in sin,
just like the rest of the world,
obeying the devil—
the commander of the powers in the unseen world.
He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those
who refuse to obey God.
But now you have been united with Christ Jesus.
Once you were far away from God,
but now you have been brought near to him
through the blood of Christ.

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light
so that you can understand the confident hope
he has given to those he called—
I also pray that you will understand
the incredible greatness of God’s power
for us who believe him.
This is the same mighty power
that raised Christ from the dead
and seated him in the place of honor
at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
