…We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor
beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven.
There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle,
the true place of worship that was built by the Lord
and not by human hands.
…because Jesus lives forever,
his priesthood lasts forever.
Therefore he is able,
once and forever,
to save those who come to God through him.
He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.
You will keep in perfect peace
all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the LORD always,
for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.
The LORD himself watches over you!
The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade.
The sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon at night.
The LORD keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.
Show me the right path, O LORD;
point out the road for me to follow.
Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you.
The sun rises at one end of the heavens
and follows its course to the other end.
Nothing can hide from its heat.
The instructions of the LORD are perfect…
The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy…
the commandments of the LORD are right…
The commands of the LORD are clear…
The laws of the LORD are true…
May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.
I will be filled with joy because of you.
I will sing praises to your name,
O Most High.
For the word of God is alive and powerful.
It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword,
cutting between soul and spirit,
between joint and marrow.
It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God.
Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes,
and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
God’s promise of entering his rest still stands…
this good news—that God has prepared this rest—
has been announced to us…
…only we who believe can enter his rest…
…even though this rest has been ready since he made the world.
…“On the seventh day God rested from all his work.”
So God’s rest is there for people to enter…
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.
So let us do our best to enter that rest…
…the Holy Spirit says,
“Today when you hear his voice,
don’t harden your hearts…”
Remember what it says:
“Today when you hear his voice,
don’t harden your hearts…”
