Your unfailing love will last forever.

Your faithfulness is an enduring as the heavens.

All heaven will praise your great wonders, LORD;

For who in all of heaven can compare with the LORD?…

O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies!

Where is there anyone as mighty as you, O LORD?

You are entirely faithful.

You rule the oceans.

You subdue their storm-tossed waves.

The heavens are yours, and the earth is yours;

everything in the world is yours—you created it all.

You created north and south…

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship,

for they will walk in the light of your presence, LORD.

They did not keep God’s covenant…

They forgot what he had done…

the miracles he did…

…he divided the sea…

making the water stand up like walls!

…he led them by a cloud…

and all night by a pillar of fire.

He split open the rocks…

to give them water…

Yet they keep on sinning against him…

Psalm 78:10-15; 17

O my people, listen to my instructions.

Open your ears to what I am saying…

I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—

stories we have heard and known,

stories our ancestors handed down to us.

We will not hide these truths from our children,

we will tell the next generation

about the glorious deeds of the LORD,

about his power and his mighty wonders.

…He commanded our ancestors 

to teach them to their children,

so the next generation might know them—

even the children not yet born—

and they in turn will teach their own children.

So each generation should set its hope anew on God,

not forgetting his glorious miracles

and obeying his commands.
