Then he asked them,
“But who do you say I am?”
Peter replied, “You are the Messiah.”
Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear.
The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—
and you will receive even more.
To those who listen to my teaching,
more understanding will be given.
But for those who are not listening,
even what little understanding they have
will be taken away from them.”
The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others.
And the seed that fell on good soil
represents those who hear and accept God’s word
and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times
as much as had been planted!”
Moved with compassion,
Jesus reached out and touched him.
“I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!”
Instantly the leprosy disappeared,
and the man was healed.
This is the Good News about Jesus the Messiah,
the Son of God.
It began just as the prophet Isaiah had written:
“Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,
and he will prepare your way.
He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming!
Clear the road for him!’”
…”Lord, when did we ever…feed you?
…give you something to drink?
…show you hospitality?
…give you clothing?
…see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“And the King will say,
‘I tell you the truth,
when you did it to one of the least of these
my brothers and sisters,
‘you were doing it to me!’
Jesus looked at them intently and said,
“Humanly speaking, it is impossible.
But with God everything is possible.”
