Then God said,
“I am El-Shaddai—
‘God Almighty.’
“…I will always be your God
and the God of your descendants after you.
And I will give the entire land of Canaan,
where you now live as a foreigner,
to you and your descendants.
It will be their possession forever,
and I will be their God.”
Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the LORD,
who had spoken to her.
She said, “You are the God who sees me.”
She also said,
“Have I truly seen the One who sees me?”
“…I am the one who searches out
the thoughts and intentions of every person.
And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve.
…When God created human beings,
he made them to be like himself.
He created them male and female,
and he blessed them and called them “human.”
Then the Lord God formed the man
from the dust of the ground.
He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils,
and the man became a living person.
Then God said,
“Let the land sprout with vegetation—
every sort of seed-bearing plant,
and trees that grow seed bearing fruit.
These seeds will then produce
the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.”
And that is what happened.
